It was with great honor and a privilege that I accept the prestigious post of President of Skal International Bangkok for the period 2010/11. This is my 2nd tenure as President of a Skal Club.
Having served on various Skal Boards as a director for the past 12 years, I feel that I honestly have something to bring to the table. I am and have been, on the Skal International Asian Area Board for the last 6 years – and currently serve as Secretary for both the Bangkok Club and the National Committee (this for the last 8 years).
My posts on the Board have been quite diverse – Secretary - Pattaya, the Asian Area, the National Committee and Bangkok, Director of Membership – Pattaya and currently for the Asian Area PR, Communications and Events Director – Pattaya and East Thailand President - Skal International Pattaya & East Thailand.
I have had the good fortune to represent Skal and our six Thailand Clubs at five International congresses and at more than 15 Asian Area Meetings so I do feel that I have my finger on the pulse as far as Skal matters are concerned. I had the pleasure of being involved with the re-founding of the Pattaya Club in 1999 – where we went on to successfully bid to hold the World Congress here in Thailand. Being instrumental in the formation of our Samui and Hua Hin Clubs was a great experience too.
Having had over 35 years of experience in the hospitality Industry (in South Africa and Thailand) has been a great advantage when dealing and speaking with Skal members within the Association.
My goals for Skal International Bangkok? After the enthusiastic, energetic, well-informed and extremely well-traveled past President, Andrew Wood, I have quite a hard act to follow. But with the help of my new board of officers anything (and more) is possible. I see an even greater future for Skal Bangkok and its members. I have high hopes of introducing more tangible benefits to all members within Thailand and broadening our International outlook through “doing business with friends.â€
Yes, it is going to be an extremely challenging 2 years, but I am confident that WE CAN soar to even greater heights.
And as always, I intend to continue to impart and wish Happiness, Good Health, Friendship and Long Life to all within our glorious association.
Skal! Robert John (Bob) Lee President Skal International Bangkok
